New Support for Tier Two

28 October, 2020

The Government have updated their support package for businesses to include financial support for those in Tier 2, who are not required to legally close but still remain severely impacted by the restrictions on socialising. This funding is being funnelled through Local Authorities and the amount they receive will be based upon the number of hospitality, hotel, B&B and leisure businesses in their areas. The Government have assumed that these businesses will receive grants equivalent to 70% of the amount available for businesses who have been legally required to close.

The guidance amounts have been published as below, but it is the decision of the Local Authority to determine what exact funding will be allocated to each business:

  • For properties with a Rateable Value (RV) of £15k or under, grants of £934 per month
  • For properties with an RV above £15K but below £51K, grants of £1,400 per month
  • For properties with an RV of above £51K, grants of £2,100 per month

Businesses need to apply to their Local Authority for support.

This scheme will initially run until April, with a review point in January. The full document can be found here:
