RPG recruitment boost supports growth plans for 2020

11 December, 2019

Response to Regency’s recent recruitment drive has been very strong, with the company receiving more than double the usual number of applicants. Newly created roles include a number of regional procurement manager positions to further support business growth, and as a result, five new field-based staff have already been confirmed. A further two office-based roles will soon be filled to allow for continued development and enhancements to the Regency purchasing IT solution.

The new appointments will see Regency Purchasing Group – which has more than 3,000 customers across the UK, including golf clubs, hotels, pubs, zoos and other attractions - employ the largest network of procurement managers in the UK, extending its network across new locations and supporting existing areas nationwide.

Regency’s Managing Director, Alex Demetriou, commented: “The response we’ve seen so far to our recruitment campaign has been unprecedented. We have been delighted with both the number of applicants and the calibre of those keen to join the team at Regency, helping to grow the national network for our customers. We are very pleased that a significant number of specialists will be joining our team early in the new year.”

The considerable growth that Regency has experienced over the last three years – 22% in 2019 - has created a demand for the business to continue to evolve and offer customers more than just competitive pricing.

Alex Demetriou, continued: “More businesses are engaged with the concept of buying groups and understand that customers want more than just a good price for their products. There’s a real movement towards doing more for your clients, in particular about providing the support and technology that helps them run their business more efficiently. For example, our members benefit from many added value services, including an automated invoice checking system which is supplied at no additional cost.

“There’s no doubt that concerns such as Brexit and the need to develop purchasing strategies have driven more businesses to seek expert advice when looking at procurement. We are well-placed to respond to their needs as we are not just a procurement group but also, uniquely, an owner-operator of leisure, restaurant and hotel businesses ourselves. This means we truly understand the procurement and operating challenges faced by our members and the need to minimise uncertainty against market conditions.”

Regency is fast becoming the go-to expert for specialist procurement advice to help businesses plan for the potential impact of Brexit and general market conditions, as well as to benefit from the group’s buying power.

Established in 1988 and headquartered in Somerset, Regency Purchasing Group provides a comprehensive procurement solution for the leisure and hospitality industry. Regency offers increased buying power with low prices, quality produce and exceptional service, and has agreements with suppliers in all major sectors, including food, drinks, sundries, waste management and many more.
