Diageo to invest £750m in Guinness brand

25 August, 2026

Diageo is set to invest $1bn (£750m) in Guinness, with plans to double production capacity by 2029 as it looks to drive global growth and meet rising demand.

New chief executive Sir Dave Lewis said the investment will focus on expanding the brand’s presence in key markets, particularly North America, while helping to prevent the supply shortages experienced in the UK in recent years, including during the crucial festive period.

Lewis said, while describing the future of the brand as “very bright”:

“We’re going to double the capacity of Guinness during the course of this plan [by 2029],”

Guinness net sales increased by 12% in the year to June 2026, despite a decline in Diageo’s overall sales, highlighting the continued strength and momentum of the iconic brand.
