Domino's recruitment plans could create further challenges for operators

30 September, 2022

Domino's has announced plans to recruit 10,000 new workers to help keep on top of pizza orders during the World Cup and over the festive period.

The fast food chain is predicting a 'take-away boom' this winter and is therefore recruiting for thousands of roles, including delivery drivers, in-store staff and pizza makers. These jobs are available across a number of the chain's 1,184 UK outlets.

Domino's said the jobs have flexible hours, with evening and weekend work available, will include training and will be a mixture of temporary and permanent jobs.

With a take-away giant like Domino's planning such a huge recruitment drive, this is likely to present an increase in recruitment challenges for smaller businesses within the hospitality sector this winter.

Last month, Domino’s reported a fall in first-half profits as higher costs took their toll. It said it expected profits to be weighted towards the second half with a marketing push going into the World Cup. Its 1,200 stores in the UK and Ireland employ more than 35,000 people.
