#VATsTheProblem campaign reaches 250,000 signatures

14 July, 2026

The hospitality sector's #VATsTheProblem campaign has passed the milestone of 250,000 signatures, demonstrating growing public support for a permanent reduction in hospitality VAT to 10%. The campaign is now entering its next phase, with an expanded range of promotional materials available to help businesses engage customers and encourage even more people to sign the petition.

Hospitality businesses can now order printed campaign materials – including beer mats, receipt cards and posters – at cost price for delivery directly to their venues. Free downloadable assets also remain available for operators who wish to print materials themselves. These resources are designed to make it easier for businesses to explain the campaign and encourage customers to lend their support.

Led by chef Tom Kerridge and backed by leading hospitality organisations, the campaign is calling on the Government to reduce hospitality VAT from 20% to 10%, arguing that a lower rate would help protect businesses, support jobs and strengthen local high streets. The long-term goal is to secure one million signatures and build a compelling case for Government action.
