Memorial Ball raises over £500,000 in one night

30 December, 2025

Regency Purchasing Group proudly supported the Axentis Michael Charitable Trust's tenth Memorial Ball, held on Saturday 22nd November 2025 at the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare. The landmark event raised more than £500,000 to support vital causes across the local community, while also marking over 20 years of generosity inspired by the late Axentis Michael.

Established in memory of Axentis Michael following his passing in 2003, the Memorial Ball was originally intended as a one-off tribute. Over the years, it has grown into one of the region’s most respected and anticipated biennial fundraising events, with each occasion building on the last. The success of the 2025 Ball is a testament to the enduring commitment of everyone involved in supporting the Trust’s mission.

The event welcomed 600 guests, including business leaders, supporters, families, friends and celebrity guests, who enjoyed an exceptional evening of fine dining, entertainment and both live and silent auctions featuring a range of exclusive prizes.

Speaking on behalf of the Trust, Trustee Alex Michael said:

“On behalf of the trustees, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this such an extraordinary event. The generosity shown by our friends, family and guests has made the 2025 Memorial Ball our most successful to date.

“A special thank you to The Grand Pier, Regency Purchasing Group, Arcadia, Payne & Gunter, and Revo Kitchen. Your teams went above and beyond, and we are incredibly grateful for your continued support.

“In the current climate, these funds are more important than ever, and this remarkable total will allow us to make a meaningful difference to those most in need within our community.”

Regency Purchasing Group’s involvement in the event reflects a long-standing family connection to the Trust, with the company’s founder, Alex Demetriou, being the grandson of Axentis Michael. Supporting the Memorial Ball is one small way Regency continues to honour that legacy and contribute to the wider community efforts led by the charity.

Every penny raised by the Trust goes directly to worthy causes, made possible through the dedication of trustees, the tireless work of volunteers, and the generosity of businesses and individuals who give their time, services and resources voluntarily.

To date, the Axentis Michael Charitable Trust has raised and distributed more than £3 million, supporting local children, families and individuals through a wide range of initiatives. These include assistance for families facing hardship, community health and wellbeing projects, programmes supporting children and vulnerable people, educational and youth-focused initiatives, and funding for local charities and community organisations providing essential services.

The Axentis Michael Charitable Trust remains committed to honouring Axentis Michael’s legacy, and all involved look forward to continuing this tradition of compassion, community and support at the next Memorial Ball in 2027.
